Tasked with overseeing and maintaining medical equipment and other related systems, Matt Royal is the director of Eskenazi Health Biomedical Engineering. Although he grew up thinking he would play in a rock band his whole life, Royal’s path led him to clinical engineering.

Indianapolis, Dec. 10, 2018 – While so many of us spend this time of year in anticipation of the festive holiday season, the period between mid-December through early January can mean just the opposite for those who experience intensified feelings of loneliness, depression and sadness.

Indianapolis, Dec. 6, 2018 – This week, Eskenazi Health marks the five-year anniversary of the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital and Eskenazi Health campus, with hundreds of thousands of patients having received care over the past five years. The historic move from Wishard Hospital to the Eskenazi Health campus occurred on Dec. 7, 2013.

This exercise strengthens the legs.

World AIDS Day is observed each year on Dec. 1, and 2018 marks the 30th anniversary of this important global health awareness day. World AIDS Day is an opportunity for people around the world to unite in the fight against HIV, show support for people living with HIV, and commemorate those who have lost their lives.

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches on Thursday, Nov. 22, some Eskenazi Health locations and departments will be closed or have limited hours.

Lisa Bracken, who is the manager of central staffing for PRN nurses and care techs at Eskenazi Health, was excited about her daughter Taylor’s recent return to school and first practice of the season in her favorite sport. “My daughter is 10, and it was the first day of school and the first day of cross country practice, and they were doing a running backwards drill as a warmup and a little girl tripped and fell and another girl who was running backwards tripped over her, and my daughter ended up being the third pile on. As she fell she put one arm back and she didn’t get up. She was crying and saying that her arm hurt really bad. "

Classic Cornbread

The Jewish Community Center Indianapolis (JCC), in partnership with Eskenazi Health, will host several events aimed at educating women on important health issues at a Women’s Health Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 14. The event will take place at the JCC at 6701 Hoover Rd.

Oct. 29, 2018 – Ghosts, goblins, creepy costumes and haunted houses are all traditional aspects of the Halloween season, but while enjoying the fun and scary aspects of Halloween, experts at Eskenazi Health encourage everyone to be on the lookout for the all too real and harmful incidences that occur this time of year.
