Outpatient Appointments

Patients and visitors entering the Sandra Eskenazi Outpatient Care Center, the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital or the Michael & Susan Smith Emergency Department will be screened for items that pose a safety risk. Screening equipment will include a pass-through metal detector, handheld scanning device and X-ray machine for belongings. If circumstances warrant it, patients or visitors will be scanned using a handheld device, and personal items such as, but not limited to, purses, backpacks, bags and briefcases will be sent through an X-ray machine. These screening measures are part of maintaining a safe campus environment for Eskenazi Health staff, patients and visitors and will not interfere with or delay emergency medical treatment.

Hospitalizations

In general, it’s a good idea to bring pajamas, socks or slippers, a toothbrush and other toiletries, eyeglasses, a change of clothes to wear home, a list of your current medications and allergies, and entertainment such as books or magazines.

Overnight stays vary by unit. Please contact the unit to inquire about overnight visitors.

Dial the operator at 317.880.0000 to be connected to a patient’s room. Each patient will also have a direct telephone line you can call. Please note that patients may choose not to have information related to their stay made available.

Sometimes because of the sensitive nature of a situation or at the patient’s or patient’s family’s request, Eskenazi Health is required to withhold all information from callers. Though we understand that it may feel frustrating to not receive information you are requesting, it is for the patient’s privacy.

Health Care Coverage and Billing

Yes, please call Eskenazi Heath Financial Eligibility Services at 1.855.202.1053 to speak with a financial counselor. You may also visit our Financial Counseling page for more coverage information.  

If you have billing questions, please call Eskenazi Health Customer Service at 317.880.4055, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you would like to pay over the phone with a credit card, please call 1.866.684.9354. You can also pay through Eskenazi Health MyChart or in person at the Eskenazi Health Cashier Office, located on the first floor of the Sandra Eskenazi Outpatient Care Center. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Patient Resources

Please call 911 if it is an emergency. Non-emergent medical questions can be directed to Eskenazi Health Connections at 317.880.7666. A nurse is available 24 hours a day to answer questions.

Please contact the Eskenazi Health Office of Patient Experience Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 317.880.8333.

Eskenazi Health provides language services for patients who prefer to communicate in their native language. Over 240 languages and dialects are supported via interpreters, video conferencing and over-the-phone services. Patients are asked to notify Eskenazi Health staff if they need interpretation services during their hospital stay or appointment.  

Services are also provided for hearing-impaired patients, with special equipment available. Patients are asked to please notify a staff member if they require further assistance.

Yes, there are two ATMs on the Eskenazi Health downtown campus.

There is a phone at the main information desk that is free for patients and visitors to use. The main information desk is located in the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation Concourse on the first floor of the Sandra Eskenazi Outpatient Care Center.
