An accomplished and results-oriented leader with more than 19 years of health care management experience, Patrick L. Wooten has led many practice initiatives while targeting patient experience at Eskenazi Health. He has also demonstrated his leadership skills in directing a variety of teams while balancing the combination of both clinical and non-clinical staff.

June 22, 2018 – The Fourth of July holiday will soon be upon us bringing with it the peak of the summer fireworks and grilling season that Americans always look forward to. While this festive time brings great joy to many of us it’s necessary to remember to take the proper precautions around fireworks and while cooking with fire to ensure that everyone avoids the potential dangers those activities present.

In recognition and appreciation of an important annual event that was first observed on June 27, 1995, this year’s National HIV Testing Day is Wednesday, June 27, featuring the theme "Doing It My Way, Testing for HIV".

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, several Eskenazi Health departments will either be closed or observe alternate hours on Monday, May 28.

May 24, 2018 – Eskenazi Health and Indy Urban Acres have joined forces to open an acre-and-a-half sized farm on the grounds of Eskenazi Health Center Pecar at 6940 N. Michigan Rd. in Indianapolis. The farm at Eskenazi Health Center Pecar began operations last year with the assistance of dozens of volunteers. The farm is located in front of the Eskenazi Health Center Pecar building on the Jim and Lois Ackerman Health Campus. All of the food grown at the farm will be available at the Crooked Creek Food Pantry at Eskenazi Health Center Pecar and additional food pantries in the Indianapolis area.

May is Stroke Awareness Month, and Dr. Juan Tejada of the Eskenazi Health Stroke Center recently shared some general information about what a stroke is, different treatment methods and what Eskenazi Health is doing to advance its care for stroke patients.

Simon Townsend joined Eskenazi Health in 1999, and his current role is manager of Eskenazi Health Center Primary Care – Adult Medicine & Pediatrics. The primary care center on the downtown campus is located on the second floor of the Sandra Eskenazi Outpatient Care Center and provides primary care, gynecology, obstetrics, mental health and addiction services, patient navigation, financial counseling, respiratory therapy and more.

May 11, 2018 – Eskenazi Health has been named as one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s “150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare.” This marks the third consecutive year that Eskenazi Health has earned this highly-valued and meaningful distinction. It also comes on the heels of being named on the Forbes list of "America's Best Employers 2018."

May 10, 2018 – Salaam will perform a mix of traditional and original Middle Eastern music on Thursday, May 17, as Eskenazi Health hosts the first of its Performer-in-Residence program concerts. The noon performance will take place in the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation Concourse on the first floor of the Sandra Eskenazi Outpatient Care Center.
