The Eskenazi Health Family Beginnings maternity care program has earned Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Blue Distinction Specialty Care recognition presented to health care providers renowned for their expertise and cost efficiency in delivering care.

Christopher M. Callahan, M.D., Cornelius and Yvonne Pettinga Professor of Medicine, IU School of Medicine, has been named chief research and development officer of Eskenazi Health. As chief research and development officer, Dr. Callahan oversees the activities of the Sandra Eskenazi Center for Brain Care Innovation. In addition, he will be responsible for developing and maintaining a world-class research environment in support of Eskenazi Health’s vision, mission and values, advancing the system's ability to provide high-quality, evidence-based care and to prepare for the future. He will report directly to Dr. Lisa Harris, CEO of Eskenazi Health.

Indianapolis, Oct. 17, 2017 – As the seasons change and colder weather approaches, it is important to maintain regular health screenings. On Saturday, Oct. 28, Eskenazi Health Center Cottage Corner, the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police and community organizations are partnering to present the 22nd annual Eskenazi Health Center Cottage Corner Health Fair.

Indianapolis, Oct. 12, 2017 – Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County and the community-based board of directors for Eskenazi Health Center announce that Dr. Dawn Haut has been named to manage primary care in community health centers located throughout Indianapolis.

The Community Day Health Fair will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., where free health screenings and a limited number of flu shots will be available. Health screenings provided during the health fair at 2505 N. Arlington Ave. will include blood pressure, oral health, diabetes, BMI and more. Everyone attending the fair will have the opportunity to receive free giveaways and win door prizes.

INDIANAPOLIS – In appreciation of Sandra Eskenazi’s continued support and generosity, today Eskenazi Health announces the naming of the Sandra Eskenazi Outpatient Care Center, which offers a wide range of hospital-based primary and specialty care services for people of all ages.

In August of 2015, Colton Linkous was one day away from moving into his dorm at Cedarville College in Ohio as a full scholarship player on the school’s basketball team. Unfortunately, Colton started experiencing seizures that day which led to an MRI where a lesion in the left temporal lobe of his brain was discovered that represented a presumed low grade glial tumor. The tumor was in close approximation to the motor and receptive language centers of his brain, and Colton was transferred to Indianapolis for neurosurgical review with Dr. Jesse Savage, a neurosurgeon with Eskenazi Health.

Eskenazi Health volunteers provide companionship and support for dying patients Indianapolis, Oct. 6, 2017 – On Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m., the Eskenazi Health No One Dies Alone (NODA) program will offer an orientation session for people interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer for the program. The session will be held at the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, 720 Eskenazi Avenue, on the main floor in the Fagre Baker Daniels conference room. Free health screenings and limited number of free flu shots will be available Oct. 14 Indianapolis, Oct. 2, 2017 – Eskenazi Health Center North Arlington in Indianapolis will host a Community Day Health Fair on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., where free health screenings and a limited number of flu shots will be available. Important information will also be shared about applying for various health care coverage plans through the Affordable Care Act, Healthy Indiana Plan – HIP 2.0 and other coverage options. Eskenazi Health has a dedicated staff of navigators to assist with health insurance enrollment, and a toll-free phone number – 1.855.202.1053 – has been used to connect with staff who can answer questions and provide assistance in navigating the various health coverage options available.
