Closures/Schedule Changes for Solar Eclipse on April 8

As part of the precautions in place for the total solar eclipse, parking gates in the visitor lots will be lowered on Monday, April 8, and Denison Parking will staff entrances. Parking in the visitor lots will be restricted to patients and visitors. In addition, Eskenazi Health Safety & Security will be making regular rounds to ensure that there are not large gatherings on the top floors of the Eskenazi Health Parking Garage on the downtown campus.

In preparation for the solar eclipse happening on Monday, April 8 and in anticipation of increased traffic within Indianapolis, certain Eskenazi Health departments will either be closed or observe alternate hours. Some departments will maintain normal operating hours. Here is noteworthy information regarding the upcoming closures/schedule changes:

  • Café Soleil at Eskenazi Health will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • Café Soleil Express will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • The Cashier’s Office will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • Customer Service will be open on Monday, April 8 and assisting patients by phone.
  • Eskenazi Health Center College Avenue (Dental) will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • All Eskenazi Health Center primary care sites will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • Family Planning Glendale and Family Planning West will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • The Frank & Katrina Basile Gift Shop will be open during normal hours on Monday, April 8.
  • The Fresh for You Market on The Matthew R. Gutwein Commonground will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • The Fresh for You Market on Wheels will not be open on Monday, April 8 at Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, 3171 N. Meridian St.
  • Health Information Management will be open on Monday, April 8.
  • The Ingram Micro Mobility Marketplace will be open during normal hours on Monday, April 8.
  • The Medical Supply Store in the Sandra Eskenazi Outpatient Care Center will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • Medical Transport will be open on Monday as the service is available 24/7. Please note that the outpatient transport service will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • The Optical Shop on the Eskenazi Health downtown campus, along with the Eskenazi Health Center Forest Manor Optical Shop and the Eskenazi Health Center Pecar Optical Shop, will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • All but one Eskenazi Health outpatient pharmacy will be closed on Monday, April 8. St. Margaret’s Pharmacy will be open from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Monday, April 8.
  • The Patient Liaison’s Office will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center outpatient locations (3171 N. Meridian St., 5610 Crawfordsville Rd., Dr. James J. Wright Building/1700 N. Illinois St. and Dr. Alan & Diane Breier Prevention and Recovery Center for Early Psychosis/720 Eskenazi Ave.) will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • The Spa at Eskenazi Health will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • Specialty care clinical areas in the Sandra Eskenazi Outpatient Care Center on the third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors will be closed on Monday, April 8.
  • Starbucks will be open as usual on Monday, April 8 as staffing levels allow.
