Annual 5K and 5-mile run/walk features downtown courses

Join the Eskenazi Health Foundation as they host the sixth annual Eskenazi Health Stride on Saturday, May 14. Presented by American Senior Communities, this year’s Eskenazi Health Stride will feature both a 5K and 5-mile course that will begin and end at the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital and Eskenazi Health campus in downtown Indianapolis.

Each year, Eskenazi Health Stride supports community health through awareness and education, emphasizing the importance of exercise, wellness and healthy lifestyles. Highlights for this year’s event include a downtown course, timing and scoring system by IPICO Sports and group awards by age. A shirt, food and drinks will also be provided to each participant. Free parking will also be available on the Eskenazi Health campus for all participants. This year's Eskenazi Health Stride is proud to feature Girls On The Run.

The event will begin with registration and packet pick-up at 7 a.m., with the opening ceremony and race events starting at 8:15 a.m. The event will then conclude with an awards ceremony at 9:30 a.m.

"We are excited to host the sixth annual Eskenazi Health Stride, which benefits health and wellness in central Indiana. Runners and walkers of all levels are welcome to participate in this fun and family-friendly event. We look forward to seeing you Saturday, May 14," said Ernest Vargo II, CFRE, president and CEO of the Eskenazi Health Foundation.

Participants in the 5-mile race will experience scenic city views along Michigan and New York streets, passing by historic Military Park and through White River State Park before crossing the White River and heading north on the White River Wapahani Trail, turning east at Michigan Street. The 5K run/walk passes through the city and courses back on New York Street before returning via Porto Alegre Street to Eskenazi Health.

"We at Eskenazi Health have long recognized the benefits of exercise and encouraged healthy lifestyles through our community health fairs and many other programs and initiatives," said Dr. Lisa Harris, chief executive officer of Eskenazi Health. "This event helps to promote the health of our community through fun, healthy competition."

Pre-race registration is only $25 per person, and same-day registration is also available for $30. Sponsors for Eskenazi Health Stride include American Senior Communities, MHS, Athletic Annex, Eskenazi Health, Indianapolis EMS and Tuxedo Brothers.
