Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center invites mental health professionals to attend our
virtual educational speaker series. This webinar is scheduled for Thursday,
June 11 from 4 - 5 p.m.
“When You Can’t Fix It Yet: Skills for Surviving Emotional Crises” will
feature Yves-Marie Ambroise, Ph.D., HSPP, clinical psychologist, Sandra
Eskenazi Mental Health Center Child and Adolescent Services (Outpatient,
School-Based, Wraparound Facilitation).
Distress
tolerance skills help people survive painful moments without making the
situation worse – but they are often misunderstood, misused or overused. In
this presentation, participants will learn what distress tolerance actually is,
how it differs from problem‑solving and emotion regulation, and why it plays a
critical role in short‑term stability and long‑term change. Using plain
language, real‑world examples, and brief experiential practices, Ambroise will
explore when distress tolerance is the right tool – and when
continued reliance on it can unintentionally keep people stuck. This session is
designed for mental health professionals, skills coordinators and community
partners who want practical ways to support people through intense emotional
moments while still keeping long‑term goals in view.
Interested
