TIME:

4 P.M. - 5 P.M.

Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center invites mental health professionals to attend our virtual educational speaker series. This webinar is scheduled for Thursday, March 12 from 4 - 5 p.m.

“Lived Expertise: The Integral Role of Peer Recovery in Behavioral Health Treatment,” will feature Jim Richter, Ed.S., LMHC, NCC, CCMHC, ACS, Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center director of clinical services, serving as facilitator with a panel of peer recovery specialists that will look at the peer recovery evidence-base and its integration into the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model.

Peer recovery is a behavioral health discipline that leverages the role's lived experience to frame the relationship with the client in services. The discipline is recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA) as an evidence-based practice with a research base that has demonstrated treatment effectiveness and is a critical spoke of the Recovery Model. Anecdotally, teams affirm that when peer recovery is integrated into their treatment with respect for the professional scope of peer recovery, client outcomes and retention improve. Indiana has implemented the CCBHC model that requires peer recovery as a CCBHC core service. However, peer recovery specialists are incorporated into many treatment models as it has blossomed as a profession that will continue to be critical to any holistic model of client-centered care.
