Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center invites mental health professionals to attend our virtual educational speaker series. This webinar is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 11 from 4 - 5 p.m.

“Lean on Me: Supporting Ourselves and Each Other through Grief,” will feature Danielle Henderson, Ph.D., Indiana University School of Medicine associate professor of clinical psychiatry, chair of the Department of Psychiatry’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) Committee, and a 2025 honoree of the IBJ Excellence in Health Care for mental health advocacy.

Grief is commonly defined as a deep sorrow and is typically associated with death. The onset of COVID-19 helped to expand our understanding of grief and loss to incorporate non-death loss and brought awareness of collective grief and bereavement. Over the last several years, many of us and those for which we care have been experiencing grief and loss both on an individual and collective level due to sociopolitical events in the United States and throughout the world. In this presentation, Dr. Henderson will highlight research on sociopolitical grief and offer strategies people can use to help themselves and those they love and care for.

Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center’s monthly speaker series is free to attend. Eligible participants (LMHC, LMFT and LCSW) have the opportunity to earn CEUs by attending the presentation.
