Named as one of the nation’s 150 best places to work in health care by Becker’s Hospital Review, Eskenazi Health is one of the nation’s largest essential health care systems, providing care to nearly 1 million outpatient visitors each year. Nurses and staff provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at more than 30 primary and mental health care sites throughout Indianapolis and within the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, including the Smith Level I Shock Trauma Center, the Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center and our Level III NICU, which serves the most diverse patient population in the area.
At Eskenazi Health, nurses are valued and are the heart of our patient care. Nurses and other members of the interprofessional care teams not only care for our patients – but ABOUT our patients. This is accomplished from a deeply engaged nursing leadership team and collaboration with other disciplines to best meet the patient’s physical, social and emotional needs. Eskenazi Health is committed to safe nurse-to-patient ratios which also allows for safety, quality and compassionate care. As a registered nurse at Eskenazi Health, you’ll gain more than experience, you’ll gain confidence, growth and courage. Eskenazi Health is hiring experienced nurses as well as recent and future registered nurse graduates for multiple departments within our organization.
Nurse-to-patient ratio is based on the department and the acuity and type of patient following the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care and the corresponding professional organization’s best practice for safe and quality care. The practice model for nursing at Eskenazi Health is a reflection of our commitment to meeting the health care needs of our patients, while meeting the nurses' professional development needs.
The care delivery model directs individual nurses in their practice, linking patient needs to nurse competencies. This model provides a practical, usable approach that links the needs and characteristics of a patient, clinical unit or system with the nurses' competencies. It provides a mechanism to articulate the work Eskenazi Health nurses do and helps guide our practice improvement.
“Every day, Eskenazi Health nurses are making a difference. This is seen both clinically in our day-to-day care with patients and investments in our professional practice. Our nurses, across the system, are focusing on improving the outcomes and patient advocacy. This is also seen outside the walls of Eskenazi Health as many nurses are actively engaged in professional organizations at a local, state and national level contributing to the advancement of nursing. Eskenazi Health nurses are appreciated for their commitment to nursing practice and research.”
