Exercise of the Month: Seated Hip Flexor Stretch

Muscles in the hips and glutes can become tight and trigger lower back pain. Try this simple stretching technique to loosen your hips and help alleviate lower back pain.  

  1. While seated, cross the right ankle over the left knee, and sit up straight and tall.

  2. Gently lean forward, keeping the back straight and reaching out with the torso until you feel a stretch in the right glute and hip.

  3. Press down to deepen the stretch. Hold for 
    10 - 30 seconds. 

  4. Repeat eight to 10 times. Then do the same exercise with the left ankle over the 
    right knee.
