The Eskenazi Health Center of Hope, a program dedicated to caring for victims of sexual assault and family violence, was created in collaboration with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office in 1996 and continues to work closely with prosecutors, local law enforcement and victims’ assistance agencies to provide care for victims in the Indianapolis area. The team is comprised of forensic nurses, social workers and victim advocates.
Working with local law enforcement, all statements and protective orders can be made without leaving the Eskenazi Health downtown campus. Services include:

Forensic nurses are registered nurses with additional education and training at the intersection of the health care and legal systems. These specialized nurses provide care for victims, and sometimes perpetrators, of violence, abuse or trauma while preserving forensic evidence to be used in legal proceedings. Forensic nurses provide medical care, emotional support and facilitate access to resources for individuals affected sexual assault and interpersonal violence.
