TIME:

11:30 A.M. - 1 P.M.

On Make Music Day, musicians of all ages and skill levels share their love of music with communities around the world through free music performances and events on June 21.

Make Music Day began in France in 1982 as the Fête de la Musique and is now celebrated on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries. Make Music Day made its American debut 18 years ago in New York. Since then, more than 100 cities throughout the country have established city-wide celebrations that provide free music-listening and music-making opportunities for communities.

This is the second year Make Music Day will be recognized in Indianapolis as a city-wide event. Eskenazi Health is excited to once again spearhead Make Music Indy on June 21. Make Music Indy will be a collaboration of new and existing partners and supporters of the Marianne Tobias Music Program at Eskenazi Health. Free concerts will be held at the Eskenazi Health downtown campus and the Eskenazi Health Thomas & Arlene Grande Campus in addition to several other performance venues throughout the city. A full listing of concerts happening throughout Indianapolis can be found here.

The concerts will take place inside the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital on June 21 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. on the north end of the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation Concourse.

This year’s downtown campus lineup includes:

  • 11:30 a.m. – Community Group Drumming, led by Eskenazi Health board-certified music therapist Tori Davenport
  • 12 p.m. – Bashiri Asad
