Medical Interpreter Training Offered - Eskenazi Health

Bridging the Gap, a course that trains bilingual individuals to become interpreters in a health care environment, is now being offered at Eskenazi Health through the Cross Cultural Health Care Program. The 40-hour professional development course provides bilingual individuals with the training needed to apply for jobs as a medical interpreter.

The course covers basic interpreter skills, information on health care, culture in interpreting, communication skills for advocacy and professional development.

Bridging the Gap courses will be offered periodically with the next one taking place from Nov. 14 – 18 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on the Eskenazi Health main campus. The cost is $500, which includes language proficiency testing prior to the course. Participants must be able to attend all five days of the course to complete the program.
