About Wishard's Palliative Care Program
Wishard’s Palliative Care Program was created in 1999 to help patients who have been diagnosed with serious illnesses. The program’s interdisciplinary team consists of physicians, nurses, social workers, a spiritual advisor and volunteers who offer a holistic, comprehensive and compassionate approach to care. Helping to bridge the gap between hospital and home, the team works with local hospice programs and area nursing homes to ensure a smooth transition between settings.
As the recipient of awards such as the National Association of Public Hospitals’ Jim Wright Vulnerable Populations Award, the American Hospital Association’s Circle of Life Award and the Indianapolis Business Journal’s Healthcare Heroes Award, the Palliative Care Program at Wishard is widely recognized for its innovative programs and outstanding service.
