The Smith Level I Shock Trauma Center at Eskenazi Health doesn’t just work within its own walls. It collaborates with many other subspecialties within Eskenazi Health, including the Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center at Eskenazi Health, Eskenazi Health Neurosurgery, Eskenazi Health Orthopaedics, Eskenazi Health Rehabilitation Services and Eskenazi Health Food & Nutrition Services. By collaborating with other departments, the Smith Level I Shock Trauma Center can better serve patients and provide comprehensive care.
Trauma/Surgical Intensive Care
The Trauma/Surgical Intensive Care Unit is a vital component of the long-term care that is provided to trauma service patients. Specialized nurses with a 2:1 patient-to-nurse ratio staff this facility. It is the established level of communication that occurs between physicians, nurses and other health care providers that is key to our patients’ success.
