Nomination of Seema Verma as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

Indianapolis, Nov. 29, 2016 - Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County, Eskenazi Health, the Marion County Public Health Department and Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services warmly congratulate Seema Verma on her nomination as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Over the course of her remarkable career, Ms. Verma has crafted highly innovative and effective programs for improving access to quality health care for low-income and underserved populations.

Early in her career, Ms. Verma served as Vice President of Planning for Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Ms. Verma was integral in the development and implementation of the groundbreaking Health Advantage Plan, a program that has provided high quality, seamless medical care to hundreds of thousands of low-income and uninsured residents of Indianapolis over the past two decades. Ms. Verma also was central to the creation of Indiana’s Healthy Indiana Plan and HIP 2.0, the only consumer directed health care engagement program in the United States, which now boasts 400,000 active members across the state.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is a critical ally in ensuring the health and wellness of Americans everywhere. It is a testament to Indiana’s highly successful Healthy Indiana Plan and HIP 2.0 that Ms. Verma is the President-Elect’s choice to lead a critical component of our federal government’s health efforts as head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
