Event will offer public viewing of design proposals to kick-off public comment period for first set of art proposals for new 2014 hospital - Eskenazi Health

Art has been an integral part of the healing environment at Wishard since T.C. Steele and others first installed murals in 1914.  Nearly a century later, Wishard will unveil the initial design proposals for art that will be in The New Wishard for the next 100 years and beyond. Wishard invites the public to join hospital and project officials as well as community and arts leaders to view art proposals and share perspectives on the artists’ proposed designs to help ensure art in The New Wishard closely aligns and connects with the greater Indianapolis community. Wishard’s art committee will review and make selections from these proposals for a handful of key locations within The New Wishard. Comment forms will be available, and after the event – from March 21 through April 1 – Wishard will display the design proposals throughout the community and online for public comment. Wishard will display the design proposals at www.TheNewWishard.org and in the Sunshine Hallway at Wishard Memorial Hospital, Wishard’s Community Health Centers located throughout the city and at City Market. Wishard plans to fund the program through philanthropy. Wishard is committed to creating an art program that supports a healing environment and is as connected to the community as Wishard has been for more than 150 years. Wishard will also hold a closing exhibit for the art proposals from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at City Market on Friday, April 1 as part of the Indianapolis Downtown Artists and Dealers Association First Friday gallery tour.
