PGY2 - Psychiatry (ASHP-accredited)

The Eskenazi Health and Purdue University PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency serves a public health population of mentally ill individuals in Indianapolis, IN. Eskenazi Health Midtown Community Mental Health is a part of Eskenazi Health specializing in the provision of psychiatric care to residents of Marion County. Approximately 17,000 clients are seen annually, comprising nearly 750,000 individual client interactions with Eskenazi Health Midtown staff. Eskenazi Health Midtown psychiatrists are often faculty within the Department of Psychiatry of the Indiana University School of Medicine, allowing the psychiatric pharmacy resident to interact with treatment teams that consist of medical students and psychiatric residents, as well as social workers, nurses and case managers.

Residents completing this program will be competent to practice in a wide array of psychiatric care environments. Upon the completion of this residency the resident will have achieved the following outcomes:

  • Have the knowledge base and pharmaceutical care skills to provide pharmaceutical care in various psychiatric care settings with particular emphasis on the public health population
  • Function as an effective member of the psychiatric treatment team and be integrated in the health care system
  • Acquire the practice skills of a qualified psychiatric pharmacist
  • Provide effective educational activities in clinical and didactic settings
  • Share a professional commitment through participation in professional organizations
  • Demonstrate self-assessment and self-improvement behaviors

As we will be moving to the new facility during the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting, Eskenazi Health will not be attending the ASHP Residency Showcase in 2013.  Please contact the Residency Program Director or the current resident if you have additional questions about the Eskenazi Health PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency.  We look forward to hearing from you!
