Wishard-Eskenazi Health Announces New Chief Operating Officer

ChandIndianapolis, July 25, 2013 – After a nationwide search Wishard-Eskenazi Health announces that Parveen Chand, MHA, FACHE has been named chief operating officer (COO). Chand comes to Wishard-Eskenazi Health with 20 years of progressive experience leading health care operations in academic, not-for-profit and for-profit, faith-based and large integrated system settings.

In his role as COO, Chand will have broad administrative responsibility for operations and direct responsibility for radiology and laboratory medicine as well as rehabilitation services. He will report directly to Dr. Lisa Harris, CEO and medical director of Wishard-Eskenazi Health.

Chand most recently served as COO at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. As a member of the senior leadership team of the 334-bed teaching hospital for Creighton University, he had executive responsibility for clinical and non-clinical ancillary services such as pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation services, laboratory, environmental and food services, and plant operations, among many others.

A graduate of St. Louis University where he earned a degree in biology, he completed graduate studies in health administration at Washington University School of Medicine. He has been professionally involved in a number of community organizations including Kiwanis International and Greater St. Louis United Way

The new Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital and Eskenazi Health campus is scheduled to open December 2013. The new Eskenazi Health campus will include a 315-bed inpatient hospital, more than 200 exam rooms, a 90-bed treatment room emergency department with a 20-bed clinical decision unit, a 110-exam-room multispecialty outpatient care center, a women’s health center, a 2,700-car parking garage, a central energy plant, and offices for faculty, research and administration functions.
